Italian Restaurants in Swindon
Buon appetito! The best places to enjoy an Italian in Swindon
We all love a good Italian, don't we?
An experience where great food goes hand in hand with the welcome, the wine and the waiters (cheeky chaps they are!)
So here's our guide to the best Italian restaurants in Swindon. The places perfect for pizza, pasta and Montepulciano.
Fratello’s
Known as “the wood burning restaurant”, Fratello’s offers a touch of class in a restaurant that will definitely surprise you if you're a first time visitor. No wonder they've won so many local awards.
Why not try? Coda Di Rospo Alla Mediterranea (Monk fish cooked in white wine, garlic, creamy tomato sauce served with king prawns)
Mario’s
Ahhh, Mario's.... We have to start with the oldest, traditional trattoria in Swindon. Hidden away in the heart of Old Town, you can expect a big
Ciao! from owners Enzo and Nino Congilio, who offer Seria A quality home-cooked Sicilian and Italian food and wine in a warm and typically friendly cellar atmosphere.
Why not try? Vitello Farcito (Escalope of veal in garlic and herb breadcrumbs, served with ham and cheese)
La Carbonara
For the true taste of Italy in Swindon, La Carbonara is harder to beat than a Juventus back four. This place really has the feel of a casual Italian bistro in the heart of Rome. Easy to find and in-expensive, this restaurant is perfect for friends or family.
Why not try? Linguine Polpette (Linguine with Tomato, Garlic, White Wine, Chillies and Meatballs)
Gaetanos
With a name like that, run by an Italian stallion called Carlo, you're in safe hands if you want an affordable, genuine Italian mouthful. With all pizza and pasta meals priced at just £6.95, you’d be a fool to say no to a quick bite at Gaetanos.
Why not try? Steak Filetto Dolcelatte (In Italian blue cheese sauce)
Buon Appetito
Swindon's first Italian-style tapas, wine bar & pizzeria restaurant, but with the look, feel, food and welcome will seem familiar - it's owned and run by the same people from La Carbonara, and sure to become a real Swindon favourite.
Why not try?
Spaghetti Scoglio. Spaghetti with mixed seafood, garlic, white wine and olive oil.
Olivio's
Now open in Old Town and serving all your favourite Italian dishes to eat in or takeaway. Plus, if your other half isn't partial to pasta then Mexican is on the menu too! A fusion that seems to be working rather well judging by the picture we took here.
Why not try?
Salsalsiccia. Italian sausage and broccoli cooked in a white wine, cream and napolitana sauce
