Ravens take the win against Swindon St George
A Swindon side ravaged by injuries and late withdrawals went down fighting at Redditch today.
Already seriously depleted resources were stretched even more as early as the 2nd minute when a dislocated shoulder forced Chris Cooper out of the game, and a bad start quickly got worse as poor defending gifted the home side 2 tries in the first 10 minutes.
However, the Saints kept plugging away and got their reward with a debut try from Lester Kidds before the break, making the half time score 20 points to 4.
The second half saw more dogged resistance from Swindon, mixed with some inspirational attacking play, which had the hosts on the back foot on several occasions.
Indeed, one remarkable spell of St George possession saw them retain the ball through no less than SIX consecutive sets of six tackles.
Greg O’Brien crossed over for the second visitors’ try and Neil Greenwood touched down right at the end with Shane Criddle adding the extra 2 points, but by then Redditch had made the game safe.
