Bridie Jackson and The Arbour + The Gallant Tailors + Rumour Shed
Songs Of Praise presents some top live acts right here in Swindon
The Vic
Old Town
Swindon
Thursday 23 August 2012
Bridie Jackson
Bridie Jackson & The Arbour are from Newcastle Upon Tyne. They launched their debut album, Bitter Lullabies, with a sold-out show at The Sage Gateshead in January 2012.
Bridie has a unique voice that despite its strength and power has a whisper like quality that draws you in with its gentle intimacy and bewitching melancholy (The Crack Magazine).
The Gallant Tailors
Formed in late 2010 as a result of late night tea drinking and jammin we decided to bring our music to a wider audience rather then just the chickens in roystons garden.
They're a bunch of very talented musicans, singers and songwriters, having previously all played in different bands or under different guises.
Rumour Shed
Rumour Shed are a folk band from Swindon, influenced by a hotchpotch of music, such as the esteemed Lindesfarne to the modern day Iron & Wine, via electronic music such as Stereolab.
Working together, swapping musical influences and drinking too much tea, band members Ellen Carter (lead vocals), Jason Bush (double bass), Neil Mercer (acoustic guitar and backing vocals) and Matt Bateman (drums) have taken their pot of influences and with their ladle of ingenuity, created a unique blend of wistful folk music, packed with atmosphere and emotion.
Doors: 8pm
Tickets: FREE
