Arts Centre
Old Town, Swindon
Tuesday 14 May 2013
At the heart of poetry are words that travel the world. And at the heart of this Festival is love of those words, from near and far. Tonight we have words that have travelled, and come to our town.
Poet Agnès Agboton tells tales in the African oral tradition. Born in Porto-Novo, Benin, she moved to Barcelona to study Spanish and is the author of two bilingual collections of poetry, in Gun and Spanish, Canciones del poblado y el exilio and Voz de las dos orillas, as well as three books on Occidental African food.
Mexican poet Rocío Cerón has gained a reputation as an experimental author, combining poetry with music, performance, and video. Her poems have been translated into English, Finnish, French, Swedish and German, and have been performed all over Europe. Her collections include Basalto and Tiento.
Ticket Prices: £8, Concession £7, Double Ticket for Agboton/Ceron & Okri £13
Doors: 6.30pm
