Not far from Swindon, deep in limestone country, at the corner of Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, lies the village of Coleshill.

In her new collection, poet, critic, and now editor of Poem Magazine and formerly of Poetry Review, and twice short-listed for the T. S. Eliot and Forward Prizes, Fiona Sampson has produced a portrait of Coleshill that is both real and imagined, with its roots deep in the local soil. Her poems look at both the natural and the man-made world, while also exploring depths of human experience.
