Hoppy Anniversary!
Arkell's celebrate 170 years of brewing with an open day and beer festival at Kingsdown Brewery

Saturday 07 September
12noon - 8.30pm
Over a thousand people helped celebrate Arkell’s 170th anniversary today at a big beer beer festival at their Kingsdown Brewery.
Vistors supped a selection of real ale from across the country while browsing amongst classic cars, bikes & buses, with the Ashton Keynes Ukulele Strummers providing the music entertainment.
Tours of the Brewery itself - one of the last remaining Victorian steam breweries in the world - were also available.
Arkell's was started by John Arkell at his farm at Stratton, Swindon in 1943 when the town was experiencing its first economic boom with Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Great Western Railway workshops opening the same year. The brewery outlived the first age of the train, but it is still run daily by the Arkell family.
