Swindon Festival of Poetry Finale
A last night of delights, including poems to make you think, feel, laugh, and drink, and music to match
Arts Centre
Old Town, Swindon
Sunday 06 October 2013
The first half will have three poets and one music man...
Kim Moore has won an Eric Gregory Award and the Geoffrey Dearmer prize. In 2012, her first pamphlet ‘If We Could Speak Like Wolves’ was a winner in The Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition.
Clare Trévien is an Aglo-Breton poet and the author of Low-Tide Lottery (Salt, 2011) and The Shipwrecked House (Penned in the Margins, 2013). Her work has been published in Best British Poetry 2013. Claire is the founder of Sabotage Reviews and launched Penning Perfumes, a creative collaboration between poets and perfumers.
Elvis McGonagall, stand-up poet, armchair revolutionary, and recumbent rocker, is the sole resident of The Graceland Caravan Park, where he scribbles verse while drinking scotch, listening to Johnny Cash, and throwing heavy objects at his portable telly. Elvis is a former World Slam Champion, appears regularly on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Saturday Live’, and at comedy clubs, dodgy dives, and BBC 2’s ‘The Culture Show’.
Aiden Sheehan is at the creative heart of Swindon indie-pop sensations Nudybronque. His low and moody vocals drive his storytelling songs. He can be curiously-dresses and is sometimes naughty, on stage!
The second half features words, music, and last-night frolics...
The Very Grimm Brothers have a good few things to commend them. These include a wry sense of humour, mischief, and misery; a fabulous mix of poems, stories, and music; surprise helpings of irony, innuendo, and awkward asides; and a need to be cheered by a perfect and plentiful poetry and music-loving audience.

Grimm brother Adrian Mealing has all the fun but the other brother John Denton is a fine foil, deadpan to die for. Together, they are anything but grim and will make sure, at the very least, that we grin.
