A proper sunrise - at last!

The sun rose over sleeping Swindon this morning, much to the delight of those who gathered in Lawn Woods to celebrate it.

Live music from the Sun Arise Singers, poetry, juggling and the traditional dancing around the Maypole all part of an outdoor event that marked the start of the Swindon Festival of Literature.

"The last couple of Dawn Choruses have been somewhat wet affairs," said Festival organiser and early-riser Matt Holland, "but this one has been perfect."

"It all bodes well for what's hopefully going to be a fantastic festival."
