Mixed Running Gala
A special event at Swindon & Cricklade Railway with six locomotives all in action
Swindon & Cricklade Railway, Blunsdon Station, Tadpole Lane
Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 April 2016, 10.30 - 4.00pm
At least six locomotives will be in action over the forthcoming weekend (16/17 April) at the Swindon and Cricklade Railway, when they hold a mixed running gala.
Star turn of the event is the visit of the 1916 Swindon built 2-8-0 tank 4247, the first visit of this locomotive to the Railway.
Following in behind is a variety of heritage diesel locomotives, all of which are at least 50 years old.
The largest and most powerful diesel locomotive in action is former main line class 73 locomotive E6003 Sir Herbert Walker. But, just in case of locomotive failures, former British Railways class 09 0-6-0 shunter D3668 will be on “Thunderbird” stand-by.
