Love and Madness present: Pains of Youth

Separated by their fathers' bitter rivalry, Romeo and Juliet experience a first love that is truly forbidden.

 

In the long hot summer they pray to be alone -away from the blistering passions of masculine honour and the vicious cycle of violence brought on by their families' ongoing feud.

 

In this cruel adult world of pride, envy and greed, youth and innocence have no place, and Romeo and Juliet must go to desperate measures to be together. 

 

The production will be in modern dress with a thematic emphasis on the conflicts between adults and teenagers, broadly a little in the style of TV series Skins.  This will not affect Shakespeare's language, as ever LOVE&MADNESS will remain true to the original language.

 

One unique feature of the production will be that some scenes will include video screens showing locations from character's past experiences, some of which will be taken locally at each town the tour visits so audiences will see local areas thet they know on screen.
