Swindon Festival of Literature 2010 - Festival Finale

FESTIVAL FINALE: POEMS, PINTS, DANCE, & MUSIC

Wise and wicked word-play, magical movement, hot sounds and cool refreshment, in a relaxed cabaret setting, this promises to be a fitting Finale!

Poems will come from three of today’s finest.

Winner of the prestigious Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the South Bank Show Decibel award, and last year’s host of the T S Eliot Readings, Daljit Nagra is the author of Look We Have Coming to Dover!

Brilliant teenage reader at the second Swindon Festival of Literature, now a grownup Bloodaxe poet with three collections to her name, playwright, broadcaster, and Radio 4 Pick of the Year, Clare Pollard has newly co-edited 21 Poets for the 21st Century.

A youthful veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe, the youngest poet ever to be listed for the Forward Best Collection prize, writer for the TLS, Luke Kennard’s latest collection is The Migraine Hotel.

Dance will be provided by Swerve Dance Theatre Company. They will perform their short but stunning piece titled Tall Stories, a library of life and movement, muddled up with meaning. It celebrates the beauty of books, which prove the perfect props, opened, shut, caressed, and loved.

Music and gravity-defying movement will be brought to the stage in subtle stages and sweet instalments by members of Dr Schmoo’s cool and youthful crew.

This will be a memorable night!
