Help break two world records!
Join David Lloyd Swindon in breaking two Guinness World records - 04 SEPTEMBER
David Lloyd in Swindon has joined forces with M&S in attempting to break two Guinness World records on the weekend of the 4th September 2010.
The two records are for 37 hours of tennis and 28 hours of five a side football, each with their own set of strict rules to ensure it is delivered in line with the Guinness guidelines.
The mayor will start the clock at 3am on Saturday 4th and Sharron Davies will be turning the clock off at 4pm that afternoon when the two events finish together.
And they're asking for your support!
The club will be opening its doors to the public for the weekend for a charge of £5, available from the two main M&S stores in Swindon.
All money raised will go towards Breakthrough Breast cancer.
"It's a charity very close to my heart," commented Darren Jesson from Marks & Spencer, "in October 2008 I took up the challenge to swim the equivalent of the English Channel over 2 days, but unfortunately just before the event the Breakthrough Wiltshire Group founder and group leader Shirley Garman was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.
"This is why I am determined to put on this event and it would be great to gain as much support as possible."
The club will be open to the public to drive support and motivation for the players. Members of the public will be asked for a donation as an entry fee to the club, but can then also enjoy the club facilities on that day.
