CAMERAMAN: THE LIFE AND WORK OF JACK CARDIFF (PG)

Craig McCall directs this engrossing and affectionate documentary tribute to veteran cinematographer Jack Cardiff, who died in April 2009.

After working as a cameraman for Hitchcock and for Powell and Pressburger in the 1940s, Cardiff moved to Hollywood, where before long he had earned a reputation as a master of Technicolor cinematography.

He went on to work on classic films including 'Black Narcissus' (1947), 'The Red Shoes' (1948), ‘African Queen’ (1951) and 'War and Peace' (1956).

The film combines film clips, home movies, documentary footage and interviews with Cardiff's associates including Kirk Douglas, Lauren Bacall, Charlton Heston and Martin Scorsese.
