Peter Sissons
PETER SISSONS – on news-making, news-reading, and media maelstroms! What is the role of a foreign correspondent?
What say does a newsreader have about what he says or what he wears?
What is the state of the British media?
What constitutes objective news?
Peter Sissons, schoolboy with the Beatles, ground-breaking news reporter, and prize-winning newsreader, has had a Fatwa hanging over him, been shot in the legs in the Nigerian Civil War, been poached by the BBC, and sparked controversy over his choice of tie.
Peter Sissons was the first anchor of the ITN-produced Channel Four News.
During his tenure, the programme won three consecutive BAFTAS and he won the highest award of the Royal Television Society.
His book, When One Door Closes, is a dramatic, poignant, yet funny account of key moments in his working life.
Tickets - £5 (£4)
