Literature Festival Finale 2011
FESTIVAL FINALE: POEMS, PINTS, & MUSICRhyme, rhythm, and wordplay with poets, performers, and music makers, in a relaxed cabaret setting, this promises to be a fitting Finale!
Music will come from the gleefully-glowing Glow Globes, comprising Laura Holmes on double bass, voice, and harmonica, and John Holmes on guitar and vocals.
Adding an extra musical dimension, there will be jazzy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics from singer-songwriter Angela Jones.
Wordplay and poems come from four fabulous wordsmiths/poets -
Catherine Brogan hails from Omagh, was winner of the 2008 Belfast Poetry Cup, has performed on Radio 4’s Today Programme, and represented the UK at the European Slam Days in Berlin.
A F Harrold has been a full-time bookseller and poet, discovering that both are poorly-paid but that the latter allows for more time in the bath, has written a book titled I Eat Squirrels, has been heard on Radio 4, and once won a prestigious bubbly-filled trophy for performing his poems against fearsome competition in Swindon.
Liz Berry writes poems that are full of energy and surprise, which have been published in numerous magazines and been broadcast on Radio 3, and whose debut pamphlet was The Patron Saint of Schoolgirls.
Bohdan Piasecki, world traveller, finalist in the Poetry Slam World Cup, against chewing gum, and full of surprises, is a performance poet from Poland.
Tickets - £10 (£9)
Please call The Town Hall on 01793 601700 to book tickets for this event or contact the Swindon Festival of Literature for any further information.
