Swimmers urged to make a New Year splash – for free

Free swimming lessons across Swindon
Free swimming lessons are on offer in pools throughout Swindon as part of the national Swim 4 Life campaign.

Swindon Borough Council’s Leisure Services has secured funding from the Amateur Swimming Association to run courses for beginners or non swimmers following a hugely successful six-week course for the over 60s.

The council is running another course of free swimming lessons for over 60s, starting this week, while free lessons will also start this week and for women over the age of 16 and for adults over 16.

The free lessons are aimed at building confidence and teaching the basic strokes and are all led by a qualified swimming instructor.
Where and when...

Free lessons for the over 60s are held at The Rec in Highworth every Wednesday between 10am and 11am, at the Health Hydro in Milton Road every Wednesday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm and at Dorcan Recreation Complex every Thursday between 2.45pm and 3.45pm.

The women-only classes are being held at the Health Hydro every Thursday between 9.30am and 10.30am, while the over 16 adult classes are also at Health Hydro every Tuesday between 7.30am and 8.30am.
