Empire Cinemas announces plans for new IMAX screen at its Greenbridge cinema

Empire Cinemas, the largest independently-owned cinema chain in the UK, has announced that a brand new IMAX® theatre is to be installed at its Swindon cinema.

Opening 25th March

Opening on Friday 25th March, the screen will be Empire Cinemas’ fifth IMAX® installation, with screens currently open at Leicester Square, Basildon, Hemel Hempstead and Great Park, Birmingham.

The IMAX experience combines hugely powerful digital sound with a crystal-clear digital projection on a much larger, slightly curved and tilted specially treated IMAX High Definition screen.

Justin Ribbons, CEO of Empire Cinemas, said “Our IMAX screens have proved extremely popular. We’re delighted to announce our latest screen at Empire Cinemas Swindon, and look forward to providing an exceptional film experience to our customers. With some fantastic releases coming to the big screen this year, Swindon’s cinemagoers are sure to be wowed with our latest IMAX addition.”

“We congratulate our valued partner on the upcoming opening of their fifth IMAX theatre” said Andrew Cripps, President, IMAX EMEA. “Empire Cinemas has been a tremendous IMAX brand advocate and together we are excited to bring The IMAX Experience® to audiences in Swindon and to more cinemagoers across the UK.”
