What makes a word count, seriously or humorously? What does it take to get a word into the dictionary? Would it be worth covert word-dropping on Countdown or wilfully misinforming school children? Simple questions with tricky answers.

 

And some are provided by award-winning comedian and co-creator of BBC 4’s show We Need Answers Alex Horne in his book Word Watching.

 

Comedy veteran of the Edinburgh Festival and Fringe, part of the innovative jazz comedy show The Horne Section, regular on Radio 4 comedy slots, and more seriously funny ones on Radio 3, Alex likes to play with words in a way that pleases a mind that’s up for a good time at a provincial but profoundly punctual and well-punctuated festival of Literature.
