Bill Heine at the Arts Centre

On one of England’s quirkiest icons: jaws on a rooftop!

Arts Centre
Swindon
Thursday 10 May 2012

Pythonesque, picaresque, art, anarchy, or architecture? How would you describe a frighteningly-real shark piercing the roof of suburban house?

In 1986, a lot of people had a lot of different answers. The 25-foot fibre glass shark became a controversial landmark, led to courtroom dramas, arrests, a Public Inquiry, and the intervention of the Secretary of State for the Environment.

Now, author, broadcaster, and shark-art perpetrator Bill Heine tells the full story in The Hunting of the Shark, which includes cameo appearances from Michael Heseltine, Phillip Pullman, and Mohamed Al Fayed.

Doors: 12.30pm

Admission: £6, Concessions £5
