Maresa Mackeith at the Arts Centre

On seeing life by watching life

Arts Centre
Swindon
Wednesday 16 May 2012

What is life really like today for someone young, alert, and keen on life but who has significant support needs?

life but who has significant support needs? What does a person, who is not endlessly preoccupied or distracted by ‘things to do’, see and hear each day? What is it like to be ‘hidden away’ just because you are labelled ‘disabled’, despite your passion for inclusion?

Maresa MacKeith, who has cerebral palsy, no speech, and a degree in English, is part of a group of young people who have set up Quiet Revolution that seeks equality and opportunity for non-verbal young people.

In her book of occasional writing, Taking the Time, Maresa, who says ‘if I did not have physical help, I would die’ explains a few things in essays and poems.

Doors: 12.30pm

Tickets: £4, Concessions £3
