Saturday 01 September

Open Mike Poetry in the United Reformed Church
10am-12 noon

Drop in and listen to people read their choice of poems, or bring along your own poems or favourites and share them with us. Refreshments will be served in the interval.
 
Highworth Youth Music Festival
1pm-6pm

This is a free event open to all - come along and support local young talent with music to suit all tastes.

The event will be held near to the Highworth Junior Football Club pavilion and they will be providing a BBQ and bar for over 18's.

Classical Music Concert in the Methodist Church
7.30pm

An evening of Bassoon, Double Bass and Piano. Music for all tastes from three talented young musicians: Anthony Williams, Rosie Burton and Chris White.

St James' Singers Concert in the United Reform Church
7.30pm  

A sequence of words and music for Royal Jubilee Year.

Based in South Oxfordshire, St James Singers is a small male voice a cappella ensemble having a wide repertoire of sacred and secular music spanning twelve centuries.

In this, its 18th season, St James Singers presents a special jubilee concert - "Best of British".

Included are songs and choral music with royal connections from six centuries, interspersed with readings of classic poetry by Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Hardy and Masefield.

Kentwood Show Choir in St Michaels Church
7.30pm

The Kentwood Show Choir is like no other choir you will ever have seen before!

Led by the inimitable Sheila Harrod, and accompanied by a trio of excellent musicians, the Choir delivers songs from its vast repertoire with energy, passion, movement and style.

Under Milk Wood in the United Reformed Church - 8pm

There will be a rehearsed reading of Under Milk Wood. A Play for Voices written by Dylan Thomas.

Let your imagination walk, with the readers, down the cobbled streets of the small Welsh town by the sea and share the thoughts and dreams of its inhabitants.

Tickets available at the Lighthouse Bookshop. Adults £5.00 including refreshment.

The theme this year is 'Inspirations'. Highworth and District Floral Art Society.

Community Art Projects in the council rooms and around the town - 9.30am

'QuartettvereinMyhl' Male Voice Choir from our twinned town of Wassenberg, Germany will be giving a concert in the United Reformed Church - 11.00am - 12 noon.

Festival Grand Parade

12.30pm - judging of Floats and Walking procession at Newburgh Place.

2.15pm approx. - Grand Festival Parade arrives in the High Street & Music on the Podium.

6pm - Music on the Podium Hangfire and supporting groups.

Sunday 16 September

Highworth Triathlon - 8am

The race is aimed at novices but there is usually the full range of entrants.

The triathlon consists of 3 parts: 400m swim at the Rec, Highworth, followed by a 20 km cycle round Kempsford and Castle Eaton (first 2/3 nice and downhill or flat - the final 1/3 has all the hills but nice scenery!), then a 5km run round the golf course.

The race is limited to 200 entries and usually fills up fast.

At time of going to press this is still at a preliminary discussion stage with the Watermill Theatre.

Thursday 20 September

To commemorate the Titanic's first and only voyage, you are invited back to April 1912 and take you on an evocative journey into Edwardian society.

The show follows the story of famous dress designer Lady Lucy Duff-Gordon - known in Society as 'Lucile' - to follow events of the fatal night.

Tickets available at the Lighthouse Bookshop. Adults £10.00 including a glass of wine.
