Some of the best festival street entertainment at The Brunel in Swindon

The Brunel Centre has scoured the land for the funniest, weirdest and most fantastic street entertainment for StreetFest 2015.

 

Among the highlights of the festival will be world renowned 3D pavement artist Julian Beever, who will be at The Brunel from the 25th August creating a bespoke piece of 3D art.

What's On

 

Performing from 11.00am will be:

On Friday 28th August

Bang On – with percussion workshop sessions, The Story Tent - a very sweet, little old man, sitting inside a mobile tent filled with all sorts of interesting objects. Each item comes with a fascinating story, told using special effects, music and puppetry, walk about entertainment in the form of The Stereo Men and The Art Critics (see pic. below). The Last Resort is a mixture of installation and animation inhabited by a caricaturist, fortune teller, beach shop, tattoo parlor, photographer and monkey and an elusive chip shop, all topped off with a ridiculous 30 minute static Freak Show, run twice daily. Plus Swindon Dance talent and Creation Station will be here with craft workshops for children decorating picture frames.

 

On Saturday 29th August

Bang On will be back with their percussion workshops, Dan the Hat and DJ Bobble will be here. Dan performs world-class hat manipulation and juggles with finesse whilst DJ Bobble accompanies him with classic tunes and sublime scratching all from the bumping Beatwagon. A truly original two-man performance. Up Against the Wall will be helping you complete our graffiti wall. We have walk about entertainment from musicians The Streetlights and BIG MOB a majestic slinkie walkabout act. Plus break dancers Exceptionelle and Swindon Dance Groups. Creation Station will be here with free workshops for children making noodle doodle pictures.

Sunday 30th August

Dan the Hat and DJ Bobble will be back. Dan performs world-class hat manipulation and juggles with finesse whilst DJ Bobble accompanies him with classic tunes and sublime scratching all from the bumping Beatwagon. Une Femme Expose will be bringing ballet to the centre, Plain Bob an interactive audience adventure under Bob’s umbrella world. As the audience watches, the stage is created from suitcases, an umbrella, and a rain coat. Music from the Streetlights, the Splash Dummies will be here and Creation Station will be doing children’s workshops around painting your own jigsaw puzzle. And there’s dance from Swindon’s best dancers.
