A talk at Swindon Sub-Aqua Club by freedivers Mark Harris and Laura Storm

Husband and wife team Mark Harris and Laura Storm are both accomplished divers, freedivers and photographers.

 

Mark is a former UK champion ­freediver, record-holder and instructor who has also coached and judged at freediving competitions. He has consulted on and taught students how to freedive for roles in both television and film. He ran London’s main club, London Freediving for almost a decade.

 

Laura is a passionate wildlife photographer, both above and below water. Growing up in Kenya, she learned to dive at the age of 12. Now a Trimix diver, she led the Angels Technical Dive Team through seven years of challenges up to 2010.

 

Diving with dolphins

 

Laura and Mark have a good understanding and experience of freediving and interacting with dolphins. Laura’s talk, called ‘Peas in the Pod’ will be a detailed account of freediving with the wild pods of Atlantic spotted dolphins in Bahamian waters, with an emphasis on dolphin behaviour and how to get the best from human / dolphin interaction, without stressing or harassing the dolphins. She will consider the challenges encountered, dolphin behaviour, communication and intelligence, her personal odyssey and some photographic insights.

 

Mark and Laura will deliver two illustrated talks with a break in between for refreshments. There will be a question and answer session after each half and plenty of opportunity to talk to the speakers personally.
