Beat the recession

New College host open evening which offers advice on surviving the crunch

 

With Britain in the grip of a recession, and redundancies being announced on a weekly basis, many people feel that they are facing an uncertain future.

Now a group of local organisations has come forward to support the local community through the economic hardship.

 

New College will be hosting a “Beat the Recession” Open Evening on Wednesday 11th March, 4pm-8pm, at its Queens Drive campus.

The event is designed to offer advice, information and guidance on what to do next if you’re currently unemployed or facing redundancy, working reduced hours, or are worried about job security and want to improve your skills.

Many well-known local names will be running advice stands at the event, including Reed, Witton Recruitment, Connexions, Business Link, Withy King, and Train to Gain, in addition to the College’s own training and employment advice services.

There will also be a number of workshops running throughout the event, tackling issues such as writing the perfect CV, secrets to a successful job interview and coping with redundancy.
