The UK’s most celebrated blues guitarist of the new decade.

 
It’s difficult to think of any guitarist in the last decade who has enjoyed quite the same unanimous acclaim as Matt Schofield. Since his 2004 debut CD he has been dubbed one of the top ten British Blues guitarists of all time by Guitar & Bass magazine, and rated the best in the world by the Senior Music Critic of the Los Angeles Daily News.

 

Now based in Canada, he visits Swindon Arts Centre as part of a UK tour in support of a recent CD release, which features a new four-piece band.

His sound, a powerful mix of Blues and New Orleans funk is unlike anything else on the block. It is hard to pigeon-hole a band that can mine a deep blues trench one minute, effortlessly pull off a Meters anthem the next and then just as successfully revitalise the sixties Box Tops song, The Letter.
