Kempsford Literary Festival

Joanna Trollope, Gyles Brandreth, Lord Douglas Hurd just some of the names coming to speak

In the small Gloucestershire village of Kempsford, near Fairford, a new fixture on the Literary calendar is being planned.

Authors in the premier league such as Joanna Trollope, Gyles Brandreth, Lord Douglas Hurd, Susan Hill, Dame Stella Rimington, Nicholas Coleridge and Michael Dobbs, to name just a few, have committed to appear to speak and sign copies of their books.

The first Kempsford Literary Festival takes place on 12th, 13th and 14th March 2010 and will be officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex on Friday 12th March.

It is the brainchild of the village vicar, the Rev Tim Hastie-Smith, who for ten years was the headmaster of Dean Close School in Cheltenham.

Helping to organise the event is the former actress Fiona Fullerton, who lives in the village.

"This is such a wonderful way to raise funds for the church and the school and everyone is terribly excited that we have such literary luminaries descending on our village that we can hardly believe it," she said.

Tickets will be priced at £5 a head.
