Swindon Festival of Literature 2010 - Stanley Wells

STANLEY WELLS – on love and sex in Shakespeare.

Once upon a time, the Bard’s birthplace was a hotbed of small-town gossip, about cuckoldry, whoredom, and sexual frolics.

Right on his doorstep, William Shakespeare had the raw material for many of his great works. Much of this spicy stuff found its way into his poems and plays.

Regarded by many as one of our greatest authorities on Shakespeare’s life and work, and author of numerous articles and books on the subject, Professor Stanley Wells, in his latest book, Shakespeare, Sex, and Love, thoroughly explores the way the great man handles all this sex, lust, and love.

With chapter titles like Whores & Saints and Just Good Friends, Stanley Wells looks closely at sex and love in Shakespeare.

Tickets - £6 (£5)

DOUBLE TICKET £11 for two events:
Stanley Wells 6.30pm and Bonnie Greer 8pm
