Swindon Festival of Literature 2010 - Michael Holroyd

MICHAEL HOLROYD – on the joys and pitfalls of writing biography.

How would you feel if someone else wrote your life story?
Do you think that you could accurately write someone else’s life story?
How well can you know someone from their biography?
Where does a biographer get his material?
Whose life is it anyway?

First non-fiction winner of the British Literature Prize, with biographies of Lytton Strachey (filmed as Carrington), Augustus John, and Bernard Shaw to his credit, Michael Holroyd knows a thing or two about writing the lives of others.

He is married to the novelist Margaret Drabble.

Tickets - £6 (£5)
