Mark Boyle and Julie Hill

MARK BOYLE on The Moneyless Man, and JULIE HILL on
The Secret Life of Stuff.

How much money and stuff do we need to live well, or adequately, in the West?

Would you like more money, and less stuff, or less of both?

What’s the best use of money?

Do you really know your environmental stuff and the best use for it?

Mark Boyle, with a background in economics and writer for The Guardian, is the founder of Freeconomy, and has been living completely without money for two years, no spending, and no receiving.

He reckons that he lives ‘a truly ecological way of life’, is in the process of creating a moneyless village, and is the author of The Moneyless Man.

Julie Hill, environmental worker for business, government, and Green Alliance, reckons that life as parent, consumer, and citizen can inform us equally well about how we use resources, whether it’s a slice of bread, a cotton shirt, a cargo ship, or a nuclear reactor.

In her book The Secret Life of Stuff she shocks but claims that things can be done better.
