Writing well is a tough task.

Getting published can be even tougher.

The publishing industry is changing fast and is a daunting place for a new author.

But, help is at hand from self-publishing company, Acorn Independent Press.

If you are serious about writing and wish to be published, then this is a workshop for you.

You will be in good company. You can ask questions. You will get answers.

You will start with a healthy homemade lunch, and at table you will meet other writers interested in finding out about the process of being published.

In the afternoon workshop, the following points will be covered.

An update on the publishing industry today; an assessment of your prospective readership; the journey from manuscript to book; routes to publication, via agents, publishers, and self-publishing; how self-publishing works; digital market and e-books; pitching your writing to editor/reader; and how to market your book.

There may also be exercises and guidance on writing the perfect pitch, strapline, or synopsis. Plus plenty of time for Q&A.

Running the workshop will be Leila & Ali Dewji, directors of Acorn Independent Press, who both have first-hand experience throughout the publishing industry.

Before forming Acorn, Leila worked for leading international publishing powerhouses as well as a top literary agency whilst Ali managed advertising campaigns for one of the largest publishers in the world.
