Blog Standard at the Arts Centre

A live look at blogging with two live bloggers, Marcus Moore and Hilda Sheehan

Arts Centre
Swindon
Wednesday 16 May 2012

What is the role and purpose of blogging? Are blogs of any lasting value? Does anyone actually read them? Is blogging literature, journalism, or mere showing off?

When blogging, can you ‘get away with writing anything’ or are you being watched and judged? What are the benefits, the pleasures, the pitfalls, and the pains of it all?

To blog is to make use of cyber possibilities that are easy, visual, immediate, and out there. What is best about blogging?

Hilda Sheehan, poet and editor of Domestic Cherry magazine, has been experimenting with blogs as part of a creative process; to communicate and evaluate artistic projects in an endless labyrinth of playful and lively pages that have circulated all over the world and even Outer Space!

Marcus Moore, Call My Bluff wordsmith and writer, uploads an exact 2012 characters per day to his online Journal of a Journeyman Writer: what he calls ‘a voyage of unpredictable weathers and much toil’, that has transformed him from gruff logophile into obsessive blogophile.

Doors: 7.30pm

Tickets: £5, Concessions £4
