New play set to explore the roots and remedies of 17C medicine

Lydiard Park Education Team and Swindon Youth Theatre are hosting an open air theatre production to celebrate a 17th Century Lady of Lydiard House, bringing to life the mysterious world of 17th century medicines using physical theatre, music and creative design.
Johanna’s Miracle Garden tells the tale of Lady Johanna St John, who came up with cures for everything from the common cough to ‘virgin’s disease’, gave birth to 13 children, ran two homes and hosted society dinners for the King Charles II.
The play is part of a special project called Science and Superstition supported by a Wellcome Trust Arts Award.
