Community Is Invited To Contribute To Future Plans

Persimmon Homes Wessex is inviting the people of Swindon to contribute to its future plans in the area

Blunsdon
Monday 11 March 2013

A public exhibition is being held on Monday 11 March at Abbey Stadium between 10:00am and 8:00pm to give all interested parties the opportunity to drop in and discuss a draft proposal for 184 homes on Salzgitter Drive.

In August 2011, outline planning permission was granted by Swindon Borough Council for the demolition of the existing stadium and construction of a new stadium with youth training facilities, 16,745 sq metres of business floor space, a residential care home and 450 dwellings.

When granting outline planning permission, the associated section 106 agreement recognised the need for housing to enable the new stadium development and allows for up to 200 private dwellings to be built and occupied before a contract for the new stadium can start.

The proposals by Persimmon Homes represent the first phase of this exciting development with details of the stadium and further phases being subject to future consultation.

Steve Roche, managing director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We want to give the public an opportunity to discuss with us the first phase of this residential development, which will feature a range of two, three and four bedroom family homes.

“Abbey Stadium has been identified as an appropriate location for future development, and as a responsible builder we want to be certain that any application we propose has been thoroughly considered by the local community it will serve.”
