Help Map Out Swindon

Swindon residents are invited to come and help map the local area

Recycles
Princes Street, Swindon
Saturday 13 July 2013

Swindon residents are being invited to come and help map the local area by Swindon Travel Choices.

On Saturday the town's first open "mapping party" will take place, pairing up interested people to go out and collect data to go onto the "Open Street Map" of Swindon.

"Open Street Map" (OSM) has been described as the Wikipaedia of mapping, created and maintained by local people. You don't need to be technical to join in the party - it will involve going out and about and marking paper maps with a range of things, from street furniture (postboxes, benches etc), building names, opening times and transport routes, bus stops etc.

Anyone is welcome to come and join us, whether to go and collect the data, or take it a step further and mark the findings on the online map.

No need to book a place - come along to Recycles on Princes Street (next to the Travelodge) by 10am. The event will last until approximately 2pm, but volunteers are welcome to leave early or carry on for as long as they like.
