On Friday 12 July, The Museum of Computing celebrates its 10th anniversary with the launch of a brand new exhibition, Robots Revealed.

This exhibition aims to turn the spotlight on the exciting world of robotics; their history, their future and the impact they have on people’s lives. It explores every aspect of the robotic world, from the robots that build our cars to the robots that are revolutionising surgery. From the robots our children play with to the robots that wage our wars.

Eli Dawson, the museums assistant curator and organiser of the exhibition said: ‘this is one of the most exciting exhibitions we have delivered. We've have some fantastic support from our sponsors and some incredible exhibits, this is an exhibition not to be missed!’

The exhibition includes many objects from popular culture and from some of the worlds top robotics companies. Visitors will be able to see the latest in labour-saving domestic robot technology, pit their wits against an industrial robot and marvel at the mighty Gyrobot, a 100kg battle-scarred veteran of TV’s Robot Wars.

There will be plenty of interactive displays to help visitors both better understand robots and also have a go at controlling them themselves. The museum is also planning a series of workshops where people can build and program their own robot.

Simon Webb, museum curator said: "We are living in a time where the dream of a robot in the home is now a reality. This exhibition is a fascinating insight into how far robots have progressed and a glimpse into their future."

With a planned series of special events and talks to take place over the 6-month course of the exhibition, the museum aims to develop awareness of robotics and  build upon it’s reputation for delivering exciting, educational and family-friendly activities.
