Rigoletto
The Russian State Ballet and Opera House bring another world-class opera to the Wyvern stage - 03 MARCH

Rigoletto is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, and based on the play “Le Roi s’amuse” by Victor Hugo.
Its tragic story revolves around the hunchbacked court jester, Rigoletto, his beautiful daughter Gilda he loves and the Duke of Mantua he serves.
It refers to the curse placed by a courtier on both the Duke and Rigoletto whose daughter has been seduced by the Duke. The curse comes to fruition when Gilda likewise falls in love with the Duke and eventually sacrifices her life to save him from the assassins hired by her father.
