Ray Dance & Judith Sharp bring Andrew Lloyd Webber's world-renowned musical to the Arts Centre

Based on Billy Wilder’s Academy Award-winning 1950 film, starring Gloria Swanson, the story revolves around Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era, living in the past in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. The show weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition.

 

When young screenwriter Joe Gillis accidentally crosses her path, she sees in him an opportunity to make her comeback to the big screen. Their subsequent passionate and volatile relationship leads to an unforeseen and tragic conclusion.

 

Some of Lloyd Webber’s most well-known songs were written for this show and include With One Look, The Perfect Year, As If We Never Said Goodbye and the title song Sunset Boulevard.
