The gruesome discovery of several dead bodies on the moor sparks a police investigation and media presence in the remote village of Chellingford.


When Adrian Brooks arrives at Jessica Scanlon’s cottage, it is with another enquiry in mind. His sister has disappeared and thinks Jessica might be able to help find her. Jessica’s friend Etta has also gone missing, and when she is called to identify one of the bodies discovered by police, she confirms it is Etta.

But Jessica’s landlady seems to have other ideas. A mysterious suicide, an elaborate insurance scam and the arrival of a nosy true crime writer create further layers of intrigue that lead to a thrilling denouement.
