A great sight at the opera
Barber of Seville - live on the Big Screen in Swindon town centre
One of the world’s most famous operas, The Barber of Seville, was beamed live into Wharf Green last night.
The Royal Opera’s three hour and 20 minute extravaganza was shown at the Big Screen after two live performances from Swindon Stage Coach and Wantage Stage Coach.
Swindon opera lovers were able to see the sumptuous production free of charge in a cordoned off enclosure at Wharf Green.
"It was a marvellous evening for Swindon," commented Carol Heneghan, Director of Marketing for the New Swindon Company which is co-coordinating the town centre regeneration.
"We are thrilled to have such a prestigious production beamed live from the Royal Opera House into the town centre."
