The Alfred Williams Festival celebrates Swindon's proud past
A major event is taking place this weekend to celebrate Swindon's proud past - with a musical and history fair.
The Alfred Williams Heritage Festival at the STEAM museum with feature the first stage production of the life story of Williams - a Swindon author known as the 'Hammerman Poet' - on Friday and Saturday evening.
Also on Saturday, the Great Hall will be the home to displays of historic and archive material from historcal societies and organisations from around Swindon.
The FREE fair will include talks and children's activities.

Organised by Friends of Alfred Williams, the aim is to share information about the heritage of Swindon and the surrounding area - and ultimately to turn it into a celebration of our proud past.
Hammerman Musical
Performances on Friday and Saturday evenings
The centerpeice of the Festival weekend will also be the first production of 'The Hammerman' musical, which tells the inspirational story of Alfred's Williams' life through music, song and a lively script.
It stars Paul Bradley as Alfred and features a supporting cast of more than 20.
