Tron (PG)

Part of the Swindon Film Festival 2011

A hacker is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

This is the original Tron movie, and ground-breaking in its use of computer generated imagery – though interestingly it was banned from competition for the special effects Oscar when it was released because, according to director Steven Lisberger, "The Academy thought we cheated by using computers”!

“Not only does it introduce the humanity/technology themes that would surface in later cyberpunk fantasies, it boasts some of the most unique visuals in any film, then or now.” (Film4)

Free video games

Anybody purchasing tickets for either Tron or Metropolis will get free entry into the Museum of Computing in Theatre Square on Sunday from 2:00 - 7:15 where they will be able to try their hand at some Tron inspired video games.
