Tahmima Anam and Mirza Waheed
TAHMIMA ANAM on The Good Muslim and MIRZA WAHEED on The Collaborator. Two authors, two books, and two countries but one thing in common: war, its effects and its ramifications.
One story is set in India in an isolated village on the border with Pakistan.
Soldiers hunt militants and once-happy boys disappear.
The other is set in Bangladesh, following its war of independence.
How do former fighters face peace and become good?
Tahmima Anam won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for her first novel. Her eagerly-awaited second, The Good Muslim, is published in the 40th anniversary year of the war for independence in Bangladesh.
Mirza Waheed, born in Kashmir and educated in Delhi, is an editor at the BBC’s Urdu Service, and author of The Collaborator.
