Armed Forces Day 2011
Military parade, veteran's badge ceremony plus a full day of entertainment for all the family
Swindon honoured the past, present and future of her Majesty's Armed Forces with a full day of entertainment on Saturday.
The day started with a parade led by The Band of The Life Guards, beofre a Military Service with hymns and parayers led by dignatories including the The Air Chief Marshall Sir Stephen Dalton, Chief of the Air Staff and Gerald Howarth MP, Minister for International Security took place.
Honouring those who have served
A Ceremony to award veteran's from across Swindon a special lapel badge on behalf of the Ministry of Defence also took place.
The badges were awarded by Gerald Howarth MP, Minister for International Security, Lieutenant Colonel James Arkell TD.DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant and the Mayor of Swindon.
The Band of The Life Guards then returned to the main arena at Wharf Green with a twenty minute display officially launching the Armed Forces Showcase.
