Town centre Christmas lights switch-on 

Lorraine lights up on a memorable night at Wharf Green

 

They always promise to be bigger and better every year - and last night was no different!

 

Over 6,000 people turned up to Wharf Green to see the inSwindon Christmas lights switch-on.

Special guests included Swindon manager Danny Wilson and goalkeeper David Lucus, Swindon Speedway's Alun Rossiter and Leigh Adams and from the Swindon Wildcats Ryan Aldridge and Arron Nell - and, of course, this year's panto star Lorraine Chase.

 

"You just had to look around at the thousands of kids' smiling faces to realise how great this event is," commented Simon Jackson, inSwindon.

 

"And this is just the start of the festivities planned in the lead up to Christmas. From Santa's grotto to our Christmas farmers' market, we've got loads planned for Swindon town centre."
