The First Swindon Puja
A weekend of festivities at The Platform to celebrate Saraswati 2013
The first Swindon Saraswati Puja took place this weekend with music, dance and much celebration at The Platform.
Puja is widely commemorated with festivals in Bangladesh & Indian and is the most significant socio-cultural event in Bengali society.
A specially-made clay mould of the deity Goddess Saraswati was brought from Kumortoli in Calcutta (the most famous place for such artwork) to mark the inaugural event.
The Swindon Puja Committee who organised the two-day festival after years of hard work would especially like to thank the Mayor and the Deputy Mayors of Swindon, Miss Wiltshire Galaxy and England's Miss Perfect (Hannah Golding) for their participation and help in making the event such a huge success.
