Theatre is happening here in Swindon!
Billie returns again to Swindon as exciting 'new' arts scene taps in to wealth of talent
Swindon-born Billie Piper gave up her time again last weekend to share her huge experience with aspiring young actors at the new Shoebox Theatre.
The recent Olivier award-winner officially opened the theatre in February as its Patron and returned for an informal question-and-answer session over tea covering all sorts of subjects including the real challenges of working in the theatre and film industry.
Formerly the home of Artsite, the Shoebox Theatre is a brand-new space for the many talented performers, writers, musicians and directors of Swindon to develop, train and showcase their work - bringing something a little different and exciting to audiences of Swindon.
Growing scene
Also opened at the beginning of 2017, it also provides an empowering multi-arts venue for Swindon's creative community in what was the former Palladium cinema, which closed in 1962.
See the launch video below.
Spring Arts Festival?
And in a fresh move announced this week, Matt Holland, the founder & director of the highly successful Swindon Festival of Literature is now considering organising a Spring Arts Festival to celebrate the range of cultural activities now on offer. |
