Alistair McGowan at the Arts Centre

In stand-up and comic conversation, with you!

Arts Centre
Old Town, Swindon
Friday 17 May 2013

After the success of ‘The Piano Album’ (released through Sony Classical) and his first tour in 2018, Alistair McGowan is back with this hugely-popular show which brings together all his talents.

Along with some classical piano pieces from his album, Alistair will also play a variety of short pieces from Glass to Chopin, Grieg to Debussy and John Field to Bill Evans. Join Alistair as he talks a little about the history of each piece, each composer and the problems and benefits of starting to learn the piano at the age of 49.

His TV credits include The Big Impression, Bleak House, Live At The Apollo and he was one of the voices and writers of the new hit comedy show, The Week That Wasn’t (Sky One). As an actor, he has appeared in the West End in Pygmalion, Cabaret, The Mikado and Little Shop of Horrors (for which he was Olivier-nominated).

He devised and performed Sincerely Noel (a musical tribute to Noel Coward) and, in 2016, Erik Satie’s-faction, a one-man play in which he portrayed Erik Satie and played several of his piano pieces. He has also written Radio 4 plays (and fronted Radio 4 documentaries) about Satie and John Field.
