Property goes online in bid to find potential buyers
When the recession hit hard the housing market was seriously affected, and many homes were remaining unsold.
But after estate agents failed to get a single viewing, one seller decided to take a new direction in advertising her home.
Jean Branston, current owner of Hayward House and cottage in Highworth, commissioned the design of a website dedicated to the sale of her property.
The charming early-18th century Grade II listed town house still has many of its original features including beautiful exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces, and consists of the main house with a cottage to the rear.
Set over three storeys, the 10-bedroom property (which currently homes a successful Bed and Breakfast business) is on the market for around £730,000.
Tom Sykes, of Golden Eye Creative who designed the website, believes it's the perfect marketing opportunity for a home with so much to offer.
"When estate agents are charging fees of around £15,000, marketing in this way saves a lot of money and can be really effective," he told us. "The property has such a uniqueness about it, and so many residential and commercial opportunities, which makes it appealing to many different markets."
Jean says: "Hayward House has been a lovely home and working environment for me and my family for the last 40 years and I know it will continue to charm new owners for years to come.
"The House is very versatile and an ideal building for commercial use and has previously nurtured a variety of different businesses to success.
"In it's current form it would most suit a restaurant or shop with more than adequate space to live above or in the cottage behind."
