Debenhams

Debenhams never disapoint on homeware, especially the accessories that really make the difference.

On their second-floor you'll find plenty to choose from if you're thinking of adding just a splash of summer sun to your living room.

Designer cushions in yellow or more subtle lemon - some from a little as £6 - are ideal; vibrant yet minimal, and perfect for a hassle free finishing touch.

Top tip: curtains and blinds - if you didn't know, Debenhams also offer a superb range of ready-made curtains and blinds if you fancy making much more of a contemporary colour change.

House of Fraser Outlet

It's downstairs this time for some seaside inspiration, where House of Fraser have made a real effort to show off their range of tableware and cool blue accessories.

Dinner table sets in different tones of ultramarine make a striking statement as do bits and bobs like mugs, cups and saucers in nautical stripes.

Our only advice, though, is don't overdo it on the brash blues! Just one or two pieces will keep the room from looking like a seafront gift shop!

Top tip: dark furniture - tables, chairs and leather sofas in dark colours are the ideal contrast for blues and yellows, so why not check out the range on offer at House of Fraser while you're there. At Outlet prices you may just find the larger items are a lot more affordable than you think.

Their linen range in pastel blues and summery yellows are perfect if you want to bring a spot of sunshine to the bedroom.

But for a seasonal aroma as well as look, we recommend their coastal range of candles and scents for the home. Very beach hut chic and very relaxing!
