Analogue Switch-Off For Swindon
Is your TV ready for the big change this week?
It's the end of analogue TV this month for major parts of Swindon when the Oxford transmitter is switched over.
So if your home receives BBC Oxford or ITV Meridian North instead of BBC Points West
via a TV aerial you will be affected and may need to upgrade your TV or add a set top receiver or recorder with built in "Freeview".
Cable and satellite unaffected
Those with cable or satellite don't need to worry no matter which regional news they view.
The first stage is on
14 September when BBC2 and Channel4 analogue signals will stop.
On this day TVs with "Freeview" equipment already will need to re-tune to watch BBC Channels.
And on
28 September all analogue transmissions will cease and ALL "Freeview" digital equipment will require re-tuning.
If you have a new IDTV (integrated digital TV) with Freeview built-in then you shouldn't have a problem - perhaps just a re-tune.
Affected areas
Homes with analogue TVs in the following parts of Swindon are liable to be affected.
Parts of West Swindon (some of Westlea Eastleaze & Toothill)
Some parts of North Swindon (incl. all of Broad Blunsdon) All of Lower Old Town, Lakeside and Lawns Large Parts of New Town Most of South & East Swindon, Wroughton, Highworth, Wanborough, Lower Purton and Cricklade Some parts of Chiseldon Most places North of the A417
